Potatoes have different names depending on the region. The varieties on the Polish market differ in shape, colour, taste, and smell; they are fleshy or mealy, large or small, white or yellow. We can use them to prepare salads, puree, dumplings, pies, potato dumplings, casseroles, and fries. Potatoes belonging to the group of nightshade vegetables are healthy and nutritious. They are low in calories (in 100g they have 69-85 kcal) and do not fatten up. Tubers provide relatively large amounts of vitamins: B1, PP, B5, B6, C, they are also a source of minerals: potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, manganese, and zinc.
